And by the end of that game you were throwing black holes at enemy cities. Each faction had it's own quirks, but everyone had full access to the tech tree. It killed the joy I felt playing the game when I realized what they had done as I played though the campaign. I think they made a conscious choice to limit this, but I hate it. There are some (like the vanguard xp building) that you won't get access to even after conquering them. Let us access it with the same kind of drop down menu we use to access the different racial techs.Īlso give us access to all the buildings. Capture a new one by taking an enemy capital, reverse engineer it by studying debris from units that used it, or by raiding landmarks. They should also make it possible to research more than one secret tech per game. If you take an enemy city you can research the racial tech (accessed through a drop down menu), but there is no way to research additional damage channels. The thing that really killed my joy for the game is realizing you can't research all the tech. Then we could manually set up each faction. Or, failing that, give us a full console like Stellaris has. They really need to add some kind of established start conditions to the game. So now I use the console to fast forward myself a bit. I got sick of going through the start again and again.
